80 percent of applicants to Northwestern State University of Louisiana were admitted for fall 2017

At Northwestern State University of Louisiana, 73 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 69 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.


At Northwestern State University of Louisiana, 73 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 69 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Natchitoches enrolled 10,572 students in fall 2017, including 9,443 in undergraduate and 1,129 in graduate programs, data shows. 7.7 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

91 percent of undergraduates are residents of Louisiana, and 7 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (56 percent) and Black or African American (29 percent).

The school admitted 80 percent of the 4,409 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 44 percent enrolled.
