how do I find my adjusted gross income back?

I filed and mailed in my 2008 tax return by mail, so I don't have a copy of it. I need my adjusted gross income for 2008. What is an IRS # that I can call to find it? thanks!

  1. 1-800-TAX-1040. Just ignore the prompts. You'll be routed to a human in 30 to 60 minutes. For future reference, ALWAYS make a copy of your return for your records.
  2. Always make and keep a copy of your return. Mailing it in doesn't stop you from doing that! Call 800–829–1040 but figure on spending a long time on hold. Depending on when you mailed it, the info might or might not be in the system and available yet.
  3. Another alternative is to request your tax return transcript. You can get your IRS issued 1040 in about 1 business day from Accuverify.com Since you mailed it in allow about 6 weeks for your tax return to be processed by the IRS. If it has been that long you can request your tax transcript, and get it in about 1 business day. If you are due a refund wait till you get your refund.
