What is it called when a consumer is expected to purchase an item repeatedly due to poor quality? How does the American consumer view genetically modified food? I read in a British newspaper the other day that 7 years ago 60% of all products in UK supermarkets contained GM ingredients. Nowadays there are only two products on sale in the UK containg GM food. Despite the fact that there isn't all that much evidence to say GM is bad, the British consumers decided they didn't want GM and stopped buying them, and the supermarkets got rid of them as quick as they could. Now that's what I call consumer power. I get the impression that American consumers are far less skeptical of genetic modification and that GM products are widely available. How aware are American consumers of what's in their food? Do they care about GM or is it not an issue for them? How has the media covered the issue in america?

How did consumer credit counselors become a mandatory part of the bankruptcy process? In 2005, it became the law in the United States that before a person could file for bankruptcy protection, they needed to complete consumer credit counseling. I am very interested in reading a case study about how they (the consumer credit counseling industry) pulled this off. I have a cursory understanding of the issue - the arguments, the changes to non-profit status, etc... so I don't want just some high level, overview. I am much more interested in the steps and arguments they used to accomplish this.

What is the best method for consumer credit card debt relief? We started a program with "Consumer Credit Counselors" This progarm has us pay the Consumer Credit Counselors, then they pay the credit cards every month. All they do is lower some of the interest rates. They don't negotiate amount owed. The payments are too high for us, so we looked into other alternatives. We found one company that will do it differently for less. They have you pay into an escrow account, and they pay off each credit card individually. They say they negotiate lower balances and interest rates. The payment would be lower and the payoff time cut in half. Does anyone know of any reason we shouldn't do this? Are there any other better ways? WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET CONSUMER DEBT RELIEF with no loans?
Can a guardian dictate which group home a consumer chooses to stay in? I am a community support worker, working with a consumer who has a criminal history. He is at least a bit mentally challenged. I'm not sure, but it seems that he could be a victim of the system. In other words, they act like they (his group home staff in particular) want him to be independent, but they talk to him like he's worthless. He has a habit of changing group homes ---- quite often! Since his last "episode" (he tore some things up around the home to get his way) his guardian told him that he is not moving again. Is that his guardian's right?
What type of consumer protection should the government have in place concerning credit cards? It seems to me like the interest rates that they charge are absolutely unbelievable. Especially when they slip it past someone on page 28 of their "rights" package. However, I wonder about the public's lack of financial education and how much responsibilty a person has to take for their own actions. I'm taking an economics course now and it seems like, when reading the basics of capitalism, that a lot of it really seems to depend on consumer's being rather, frankly, dumb. Does the Government have a place in "protecting" people, or is this really an example of "buyer beware"?

How could I learn about levels of presence of global consumer brands in poorer countries? Hello, I am interested in learning about the distribution of global consumer brands in poorer countries. Initially, I am interested in learning about what countries have particularly limited presence of global brands, and what countries have relatively high levels of presence of global brands (both in terms of breadth and magnitude of the presence). Additionally, I am interested in learning about the positions of several specific countries in this context: for the present, Haiti and Uganda. I would like to find information regarding relative magnitude of the presence of specific brands in these countries as well. If you would be able to suggest places for me to start, I would appreciate any such suggestions. If you have corresponding information that you could share, I would appreciate any partial answers to these questions, whether detailed or not. Thank you.

What does Cisco have to offer for the average consumer? I see ads for Cisco all the time, especially on FOX where they seem to supply their technologies for several of the shows. Why are they advertising to the common consumer? I went to their website and it seems as though everything is meant for corporate entities. They have this little "featured" section for individuals and entrepreneurs, but even there it seems like they don't have anything to offer as a company. Everything seemed to discuss how technology connects their lives, without touching on an specific Cisco products in particular.
